enough mirrors already...

These things are pretty fast for me to make, couple hours or so. But dang do they hurt the hand.

.

This is it for a while. Designing one for someone and have an order for one, but I'm out of sand. I gotta buy some and make a sand recovery system. Thought I had a great idea last night but reconsidered it this morning.

Go team!

Opened a flyer Friday at lunch, saw cheap mirrors that would be great for something so I bought a bunch of em figured I`d use em someday, well going back to store tomorrow, need more mirrors lol!

.This is the Flames etched into back of mirror...

Although this looked good enough, I wanted the Red to be in the pattern (Thats why I blasted the back was to add color)

.

This is the flames completed. It`s cool, think I`m gonna blast a little harder and use a different paint. But Still looks cool, and easier to keep clean than etching the front of the mirror would be.
And This is my favorite, The Saskatchewan Rough Rider helmet. I etched this one on the front and so it looks white, sometimes grey, ghostly.... when you hit the light right it looks awesome!

Ghost truck

This is the truck cut and backlit. thought it was interesting.
I do this to check my cuts for flaws.

Oh geeze just had another idea for a new project. My woodshop is shut down during the threat of flooding basements. But I can sandblast!

Fun with new camera

Why i waited so long to buy a good camera? I dunno, kinda wish I`d gotten a better one yet.

Was screwing around with my telescope and I thought why not take a pic with it? Works awesome, this is a pic that didn`t turn out right, but turned out to hurt my eyes real bad. Sorry to the neighbors that may now think i`m stalking them... stare at the pic (click on it so its full size in a new window) Does it move around?

Truck lights

Forgot I was gonna post this pic with the last post.
It`s the `76 truck during the light box phase of design, thought it looked neat.

.

.Timed this job, out of curiosity. Turns out you forget to hit the stop watch alot during the "timing" of the project, but I was more aware of time this way and so can hazard a guess. Seems I don`t charge anywhere near enough for my work or I suck at it.
The design of this truck (which is harder than natural pictures) was about 1 hr of honest work, it can take months for me to be happy enough to cut a job. All depends.
The cutting phase of this was approx 4 hours , cutting only changes when complexity and /or delicacy change.(with a few other small factors like medium, blades used etc) As far as cutting, it only got scary on about 3 cuts.
The finishing stage (technically not completed yet) took I`m guessing an hour. With a grand total of 6 or 7 hours work and $20 materials I`d a done it for $50. making my wage less than $5/hr. Minimum wage is like 8 or 9 now (couple more years I`ll be making min wage)
So I guess my prices are going up....... :-(

Cars, now non animated

This is the first car I`ve attempted, and I love it. tuned out awesome.

This was actualy my very own first car I owned. `73 Chev Nova.

So I thought I`d try out another. This is my `76 Chev 1/2 ton that I restoredand am restoring again.
