Carving update

Started this project 5 or 6 days ago, work on it about 20 minutes a night.










The horns are done, just gonna round all the horn edges, eyes and brows are done, everything needs a good sanding then I can put the leaf veins in. Need to fix the nose, finish the stash and give it a good sanding for the last step.




I lost the right half of waste cut side, didn`t realize it would be good to save until I thought of this shot.

Forgot to post this, these were the "Pumkins" I did this year out of plywood. They went together with the witch brew for a lawn display. Now what does a guy do with them? Lol, just more crap to store.....


I`ve been working on a new challenge, wood carving. This is the hardest thing I`ve done yet. you need to think in 3 dimensions , and pretty much start at the ending and work backwards. I`ve been having alot of fun doing this though, not sure what it`s going to look like when I`m done. I`ve also been working on building another part of my wood shop, this has caused many problems lol....

I was thinking of doing a lawn ice idea this year, but I`d better hurry up if I have any hope of getting it started, we are already into winter....

halloween again

Halloween again. Did this one from a picture, free handed the drawing onto a this piece of ply. Cut most of it with a jig saw (outer was reduced with a band saw the spider was done on my scroll saw.

Had an accident with the paint but it cleaned up ok in the house... didn`t want black floors really.

I`m hoping to do some jack-o-lanterns this year again

Bird watching

Who says Rudolf doesn`t get to join in any reindeer's games?



There was a headline last week TWO MEN CHARGED AFTER POLICE DISCOVER STARVING DEAD HORSES and it went on to repeat several times in the article that there were starving dead horses. Just how long should you continue feeding an animal? How does that saying go? Oh ya, you can drag the body to food but ya can`t make em eat.... or maybe I got that wrong?
The story was however very serious and made me sick and very mad so I didn`t want to poke fun at the story, just the idiot author of it.

What does this button do?

Here is a slide show of a couple hours of standing out in the cold drinkin beer shooting the... umm.. moon.

Man I wish I had a mega SLR! Next time.


But... This was what I have so......

Towards the total eclipse of the moon I opened up the exposure time on the camera and then give a human eye view along with it, thats why it bounces all over the place but this is how the moon exposed himself to me that night. Enjoy!!!

Moon lighting

Was planning for month to go out to a farmers field on Feb 20th to shoot the moon.

Plans rarely work for me so I ended up doing this from my own back yard, and even then it was a fight. Everyone decides to turn there outside lights on a night that the moon puts on a show for us. It happened in the last meteor shower so wasn't surprised.



I took 78 shots that night, and I got I think 8 shots that made me smile, so 10% is really good for me, I often take 100 shots and like 3 (thats 3%). Oddly, 5 or so of the ones that I liked are mistakes I made. And that too is often the case, I`ll try so hard for a shot that I block out a potential shot or my camera sees something I don`t.


Anyway. here are a few shots I liked, and i`ll post a slide of the eclipse as I saw it, remember I took 78 or so shots and this movie only uses a small number of them.
