I`ll begin by saying this. Make sure you have a kitchen fire extinguisher in your kitchen. (I`m not being redundant, I mean make sure you have a fire extinguisher that is appropriate for were your using it) They are cheap and work.
Next, practice how to use the thing. I`ve worked many years in a restaurant and I can calmly deal with fires, I`ve had many in my life (oh and get TONS of those in autobody too) . However a fire at work is way different than a fire in your own house. I discovered this tonight, and I was still calm but I yanked the extinguishers off the wall, and then looked at an odd pin assembly I`d never seen b4 on a extinguishers. YOU DON`T HAVE TIME TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS NOW !!!. this is also why it`s important to practice and know ahead of time. I`ve been trained for small fires and what extinguishers do what and were, but in the moment, I don`t have a clue if I need a "A" "B" or a "C" .....
All turned out well. Tons of smoke, absolutely no damage. BIG big mess, black everywhere, house stinks, my supper was ruined, managed to keep the alarm company from calling fire department, my heart stopped but alls good... till....
Till...............
I decided to put the bench together and see if I`d gotten it right. Well, let me tell you, not so much fun when your on the second last piece and you notice a plank off to the side of the organized stack your working on, looking at the piece you realize it`s number 6 and you gotta go almost half way backwards..... Now I ask, were is the fire?
So I get the thing together. I made an effort NOT to look at the pattern as I worked on the assembly, (could that be how I had to return to the middle once and start there again?)
Well I get it together despite the huge alignment on the cast (that I hadn`t taken care of yet....) Well my heart sank....
I was soooooooooooo disappointed in the pattern. Still am but I know how to fix it on the next one if there was ever to be a next one. And I got tons of ideas from it. I want to try a different style of bench, and maybe build one from scratch... who knows.
Total kick in my ass, I complained about how I used the wrong wood, tonight it dawned on me, I was trying not to spend money on this thing, if i`d used the orriginal wood and cut it down and planed it, it woulda cost me NOTHING almost, besides time and W&T.
I`m tied up with a paid project now and so....

Delays ahead....
I finished the pattern on the bench last night. I like it, have many new ideas from it, and I`m still anxious to get this together and done, but now I`ve been hired to do a piece and it comes first. So....
If you`d like a preview up here drop me a email.... let me know your here, let others know I`m doin this stupid blog. I may get more work from it!
Or you could reply anonymously here on this blog.
Also, I thought of an awesome new idea.... for kitchens!. See, you can tell when I get hired to do a project, then I get ideas for my own stuff and CAN~T work on em yet lol. Want a hint, well email me or post a comment...... sigh.
Thanks.

Bench blues

Well, did alot. But I`m gonna spend some time on aligning the wood perfectly. It matters more for what i`m hoping to do, moreso than just a regular bench so this is probably last update for a week or so.

I have the original wood on top to show how much I shortened it. It was 4 feet long originally and is 2 feet six inches. A one person bench now. Lol. These pictures show more than I see when just looking at it in person. I can see in the pic how the thing isn`t square yet.
Usein the wrong wood. Will I ever learn? And the cast iron on the sides is pretty cheap. I had to make MANY mods to the left side of all the wood since the turn at the back of the seat. Everything fits PERFECT on the right side. And I went ahead and jig cut everything cuzz I thought it all measured out perfect on the cast. Oh well, cant fix the cast, I need it real nice and square all over to put the WOW onto it.
Of course this whole idea I have may flop and I`ll have somewhere to sit and sulk about it lol.

Dang weather
can you protect my watermark
This is the bench seat jog I had to make to get the wood to fit ... oh I hope it fits.

Couple trial and errors there. Why this is takin so long, I`m using the wrong wood and everything. Cheap is turning out to be a bit more. But I`m still giddy bout gettin the pattern on this. Gotta work early in the morning on my yards so I can get at this.

Follow up
Wow, was goin thru some past posts on my site here, and realized how many times I say I`ll post an update and then I don`t. How RUDE!
I found out yesterday that you can drop kick my camera clear cross my backyard and it still works. Oh it`s funny now but I had to change my underwear. I kicked it to save it from hitting the concrete sidewalk that I had just managed to drop it towards. Things too new and too $$$
Here`s one. Paid project back in January, well here it is. (Swore I posted it)

.
Looked pretty cool. I look at the wood I choose and decide things based on everything, like grain and knots or flaws. This one made my jaw drop when I saw how the lines radiated off of the brides hand on the grooms shoulder. Hard to see in the pictures but I only cut the hand, the other lines up are natural. Erie lol.
Sold it WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to cheap but I got a of doing that.
More updates to come.

Neighbors think I`m Noah
Was eatin my dinner tonight (Flammin A##h#le ribs , using my homemade pickled jelepeno peppers.) Hit a batch of peppers that were absurdly hot. My lips were swellin, my mouth blistering, and I thought, hey, I got a shot of tequila that should put this out, cuzz like I thought since Mexicans drink it, it must kill the heat of the food they eat.
Well turns out no. was wrong. Serves me right, was kinda a stereo type and I apologize. Think it actually INCREASES the heat!
Anyway, workin whenever I can on the Bench. The main seat area is cut and shaped for the most part, gonna mount the main seat part on the iron sides next, get all that fitting, then take it apart, smooth it out and put it back together again to lazer the thing square, and take it apart again to get the pattern onto it. This will take all weekend! I`ve been so excited about doing the pattern that it`s driving me nuts to only work on it for 20 minutes a night. Funniest thing is, I don`t even know if I can make this idea work on a park bench......
I`m not gonna spoil it... but I got some cool pics of the steps I`m goin thru. Keepin a rec of it so I can make the next one better. Oh my I know how on many areas already LOL! I`ll post them when I`m done the project.
Until next time.

SPRING - Noun- To recoil. Return to orriginal in a fast manner.
As much as I love working in my yard, I still seem to prefer winter. Cost a LOT less.
This is the bench I bought a couple years ago for WAY too much, cheap but still way too cheap. I`d be embarrassed to put my name on crap like this.

So I decided to put my name on it. Ever watch show called Junk Brothers? Well this is Junk Solo`s. I`m not gonna throw this hunk of crap away, I`m gonna rebuild it! Bigger stronger mahahahahaha , well, better anyway.
I`m gonna design a pattern and rebuild it strong, and prolly a little bit smaller. Smaller makes it stronger too... and I`m gonna be adding alot of weight so reduceing the size will lessen the hernias.
I`m off to get some measurements....
